True Womanhood Looks Like . . . Christ!

Posted on 08.19.10 by Paula Hendricks | Twitter: @PaulaWrites678

It’s easy to get hung up on trying to meet a long list of criteria, and miss the most basic thing. As Pastor Voddie Bauchum shares in this video, true womanhood looks like . . . Christ! It takes place as we turn in repentance from our sin to Him.

Today, are you running toward Jesus, or turning from Him (even in self-sufficiency)? Are you seeking to meet a long list of criteria apart from His grace and strength, or are you abiding--clinging to--Him?

  1. Loved the "feminism-light" concept... Most of us embrace certain truths about womanhood and are willing to submit to the authority of the Word in some obvious areas of our life and relationships, but there are other more subtle ways in which we are still held captive to worldly wisdom and philosophies: our career choices, childbearing decisions, and submitting when we don't agree (which is the real test of our submission)!

My constant prayer is that God incline my heart to His perfect will and to show me ways in which I am not reflecting a submissive heart, which are so many! I thank Him for His patience and grace!

  2. I think many of us (myself definitely included) get so tangled up in the long list of criteria for womanhood that we do miss the most basic thing. True Womanhood is LIVING the example of Christ rather than just being busy with all the activities that seem to be on the long list of criteria.

As Jennifer Rothschild said in an earlier blog on ROH, we have to die to self and give it all up for God and his glory. We have to wait for God's direction in our lives rather than planning ahead and making our own decisions about what we are going to do for God.

My prayer is for God to show me where he would have me serve and for me to be patient (still) and wait on his direction rather than making my own path.

  3. Proverbs 24:32, "I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw."

I want to be around people that LIVE, not preach, the kind of life that draws others to Christ, not push them away. The christians that are encouraging and loving that you can actually feel the spirit when you are around them verses the busy bodies that are always "doing something for God" and living what they preach.

I had rather see a sermon anyday than hear one.

  6. Truth that hits home. Thank you for sharing his message this past week. I've learned much for his insight and messages on the radio via podcast. Blessings to you! You challenge and encourage me to seek Christ, wait for His leading, and trust Him more fully.
