Powerfully Peaceful Music for Every Age

I will confess: my favorite meditative music is marketed as lullabies. I probably wouldn't have selected them for myself, as I don't have any children to soothe to sleep. But as I received both volumes one and two of Hidden In My Heart: A Lullaby Journey Through Scripture as gifts from an enthusiastic Nancy Leigh DeMoss, I checked them out. Soon I was a fan, too.

Maybe contexts help. The last time I listened to volume one, I was sitting in the warm sun on a boat, contentedly watching the waves in our wake. The ambient melody of "The Lord is My Shepherd" was the perfect soundtrack for the blissed out view before me, underscoring my gratitude for the gift of that vacation.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul.

The producer of this series, Jay Stocker, says that he wanted to create a cinematic score for these Bible passages, and I think he successfully accomplished this goal. The product tag is "powerfully peaceful music for every age." Not only are you soothed when you listen, you have truth poured into your heart and mind. But what deeply touched me was when Jay said in the video below that he's received letters from parents who said that their children were relieved of their night terrors and nightmares when they listened to these songs.

  1. I got these CDs about a month ago, and I love them and use them in my time of worship, not just at night,but during the day. And I even find myself "dancing before the LORD" because they move me. I know it's not only the beautiful music, but the WORD of GOD is moving and stirring my heart, soul and mind. There is a Scripture that says "Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, let the oil of gladness flow down from YOUR throne". I know our FATHER so delights to watch and listen to how HIS children are responding to this beautiful music of those of HIS servants who are using the talent HE gave them to invest in the rest of us who so benefit from their talent. Thank you, Jay Stocker for being obedient to the LORD. Thank you ROH for making these available for the "children of the LORD" who still love lullabys

  2. I have used these cd's as gifts more for people suffering from a death in the family or a serious illness than for any other reason. I have never felt so thankful for any music as I have for these.

    The word of God ministers deeply to the heart in such a profound way...nothing compares, and the beautiful music marry's well with the words. I hope many see the video here today.

  5. Listening to this music brought tears to my eyes!! As an avid listener of encouraging and convicting music this will be a new favorite for me. I, too, worship God throughout the day sometimes by singing and listening to His Words put to melodies. Thank you soooo much Carolyn and ROH for sharing this. I now have a new song in my heart. How refreshing....I needed this! :)

  6. Is there scripture being recited as the music plays? The sample music on the video is beautiful. Very soothing and relaxing for sure. I have someone in mind that I think would benefit from this CD.

  8. We have both volumes and we love them! Listen to them a lot. Gave our daughter her own copy and love giving them away to others for encouragement. We highly recommend them! You won't be disappointed!
