With everything that’s pulling at you and your daughter, how can you connect in the chaos?

It can be really tough to maintain a close, open relationship with your teenage daughter (insert eye roll here). But as she navigates her teenage years, being tethered to her family and to God’s Word has never been more important for your girl.

Dannah Gresh and I, facilitators of the Teen Track at True Woman ’12, have a top ten list of ideas that can help you and your daughter bond (hint: junk food is involved). Just press play on the short video below and let the bonding begin!

  1. My best friend and I took our daughters to TW '10 and it was great! It was somewhat of a turning point in my daughter's life. She caught the vision of true womanhood and although she was already a believer, it was a point at which I saw her go to a deeper level with Christ. She has been homeschooled all of her life until this year: she went to school for her senior year. She has stood firmly on Biblical principles and has made an impact because of her genuine Christianity in the midst of many who claim it but don't live it. So, I highly recommend that you moms who have teenage daughters take this wonderful opportunity. It is worth your investment of both time and money!

  3. I also took my daughter, who was a senior in HS at the time, to the 1st TW conference in '09. She also was a committed believer, but it was a turning point for her also as she saw that motherhood and marriage were truly God's plan for most women and not something to be mocked or looked down upon, as the world does. She became submission to what God might have for her instead of a full-time, life-long career outside of the home. We talked about the ways God can use your education, training & gifts as a mom instead of in a "job."
