Nancy's Newsfeed: Men Protecting Women in Aurora Theatre, Early Marriage, and Bible Replaced by Fifty Shades of Grey

FeedsI admire those people who keep up with multiple blogs each day. I’m not one of them. However, Nancy Leigh DeMoss often sends me links that catch her eye.

Here are six links—along with Nancy’s comments—that she passed on to me in the last month. I’ll include them below IF you promise you won’t hold it against me that some may be “old news” to you. If you’re already “in the know,” just move on to the next blog post that strikes your fancy.

Oh, yeah: in case you’re wondering, we don’t endorse everything on these sites. But we do think you’ll find these articles interesting—and hopefully they’ll spark prayer in you.

The Case for Early Marriage by Mark Regnerus
Lots of food for thought/interesting data in this piece.

When Hospitality and Hell-Fire Kiss by John Starke
Great piece (insightful, well-crafted) on hospitality and evangelism.

In the Aurora Theater the Men Protected the Women. What Does that Mean? by Hanna Rosin
In case you've not seen this.

Dear Stay-At-Home Mom . . . by Trevin Wax
Great piece.

Women, Callings, and Having It All by Jennifer A. Marshall
Thought this was well-done.

Marissa Mayer becomes CEO of Yahoo and Proves Women Cannot Have It All by Penelope Trunk
Fascinating read.

And one bonus link from Byron Paulus, CEO of Life Action Ministries:

Hotel Replaces Bible with 'Fifty Shades of Grey' by Nancy Trejos
I realize this is England but we are likely not far behind here in the States.

I’m curious. Are you one of those people who keep up with one or more blogs each day? If so, which one(s) are your favorites?

  1. There are so many 'good' and edifying things to read in this day and age. I have a difficult time prioritizing what and when to read. One could sit and read 'good' and edifying articles and books all day and not get anything done!! I cut out a number of good devotionals and daily email devotionals: one can get OD'ed, and then not mediate on anything either!
Be interesting to hear how you ladies keep up a disciplined routine of what to read and how much!!
Of course... daily Bible reading and prayer are to be foremost: I do that first and after that read other things.
Pray for me that I would be disciplined: that is a difficult area in my life!

  2. I DO follow a few blogs everyday. They center around the crafts I like to do. Only a VERY FEW FOCUS on Christianity. Although, many of the Craft Blogs I follow are done by Christians and they share Christ. I'm VERY PICKY in which ones I follow that focus on Christianity alone just because I don't know what the core beliefs of these people are. I have ALWAYS been careful about what I allow to be consumed by myself. A couple blogs I like to follow: Amazing Paper Grace by Becca Feeken & Little Birdie Blessings by Abby.

  3. Hi, dear Paula,

Haven't had time to read too much at all lately (other than the Bible) but my favorite blogs are this one and ROH, when I have time. I like John Piper's website a lot too. Info like the above from Nancy does interest me (signs of the times) so I'm hoping to check out some of the links.

May the Lord bless your day, Paula!

  6. Wow, Becky, I'm not crafty, but if I were I'd follow those, too. Especially Amazing Paper Grace.

    Thank you all for sharing!

  7. I'm new to "computerology" and blogs and such. So if others can steer me in the direction of wholesome, Bible-based and Christ centered writing, I'd be grateful.

  8. Well, dear Paula, I can't wait to check out the links you shared!! I know it's a little late but I'll add that my favorite blog is this one (probabably goes without saying), hands down, then it's: aholyexperience.com, I also follow dear little Daisy Merrik's story on: daisylove.com (I'll share a link to a video from that blog to give others a quick glance into why this one is so worth while):

    http://prayfordaisy.com/daisy-video-daisys-seven-month-journey.html

Since then she has had cancer return, twice.

There are some true godly gems (bloggers) out there who've given their lives to Christ and are allowing us a window into their lifetime transformations. I hope others will see your post Paula so we may find a few new gems together. :):)

For me, encouragement from witnessing fellow believers, openly sharing their walk of faith, just happens to be one of the most impact -full (I made that 'word' up:p) tools in maintaining my own faith.

As always, peace, love n' blessings,

  10. Welcome to the blogosphere, Carolyn! Sure hope you camp out with us right here for awhile. As I mentioned above, I don't read any blogs faithfully (other than this one and our blog for teens at LiesYoungWomenBelieve.com).

But, I do know that Nancy Leigh DeMoss (the host and teacher of Revive Our Hearts) reads Tim Challies' blog everyday: http://www.challies.com/. She, and others on our team, also spend a lot of time on The Gospel Coalition blog http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/tgc/ and the Desiring God blog: http://www.desiringgod.org/blog.

    Enjoy!
