Posted on 05.31.11 by Paula Hendricks | Twitter: @PaulaWrites678

“You only have to please one. I still struggle with the people pleasing thing, but that echoes in my head a lot. Accept the fact that you are who you are and minister out of who you are. That frees me up a bunch.”

I'm a Better Leader

Posted on 05.26.11 by Karen Waddles
Topics: Marriage

At one particularly difficult time during our marriage, my husband threw up his hands in exasperation and said, “I tell you what we’re going to do! From now on you do what you want to do and I’ll do what I want to do. I’m not going to keep going back and forth with you about who’s going to lead this family!”

The Church and the Single Mom Family

Posted on 05.24.11 by

You know her. You sat by her at the school program. She waited on your table at the restaurant last night. She rang up your supplies for your foreign mission trip. Life is so busy–you didn’t hear the hurt behind the words as she called out, “have a good night,” and it never occurred to you that she is part of a mission field right in your own back yard.

What's a Single Mom to Do?

Posted on 05.23.11 by

As a single mom of two little boys, I remember thinking more than once as I collapsed into bed, “Did I even brush my teeth today?” I don’t recall a more physically exhausting, worry-filled, second-guessing, constant-struggle time in my life than those years I spent as a single mom.

Hilarious Giving, Three Lists, and An Opportunity

Posted on 05.20.11 by Paula Hendricks | Twitter: @PaulaWrites678

I asked God to make me one crazy generous giver, and began to compile my third list: a list of people I’ve thought of giving to . . . wanted to give to . . . but never have. Then, I proceeded to have one of the most fun days ever!

A Tour of My Home

I try to keep my heart fixed on Christ, and one practical way I do that is by using visual reminders. In fact, I’d love to take you on a tour of my home. In lieu of a YouTube video, please join me on a “blog post tour” and use your imagination as you “drop by” for a visit!

Starting the Day Off Right

Posted on 05.18.11 by Nancy Leigh DeMoss | Twitter: @NancyDeMoss

Daily devotions was not something my parents forced on us, but the influence of my dad’s example and training in this area was profound. Although he has been with the Lord since 1979, the image of a dad on his knees before the Lord is indelibly etched on my mind and in my heart.

Posted on 05.17.11 by Mary Kassian | Twitter: @MaryKassian

In 1 Timothy 2:9, the Lord provides three guidelines that help Christian women figure out what and what not to wear. Asking yourself these three questions will help you figure out how to dress.

Gentle Jesus, Meek and . . . Modest

Posted on 05.16.11 by Elyse Fitzpatrick

It’s just that the transforming power that changes a show-off into a servant doesn’t come from rules about shirts or skirts. It comes from remembering the gospel and seeking to show Him off instead.

Taking God Seriously

Posted on 05.13.11 by Nancy Leigh DeMoss | Twitter: @NancyDeMoss

My dad, Art DeMoss, went Home to be with the Lord over thirty years ago. It was on the weekend of my 21st birthday that I got the call he had had a heart attack and was instantly with the Lord.

What Are You Really Teaching Your Daughter About Beauty?

Posted on 05.12.11 by Erin Davis | Twitter: @ErinGraffiti

As a young girl, I watched my mom go on every diet imaginable. I watched her make faces at herself in the mirror. I watched her duck and cover any time a camera lens was pointed in her direction. And I thought, “If there’s something wrong with my beautiful mom, there must be something wrong with me.”

When HE Gets It Right

Posted on 05.10.11 by Karen Waddles

One of the strongest objections I’ve heard over the years from wives goes something like this: “He’s not right! He doesn’t love me like Christ loved the church. Why would I submit to him? When he gets his act together, I’ll think about it.”

Me . . . Pray With Others?

Posted on 05.05.11 by Erin Davis | Twitter: @ErinGraffiti

I have a confession. I’ve never been big on corporate prayer. I feel funny when people ask me to pray with them. I’ve always thought that standing in a circle and holding hands while praying felt awkward and a little disingenuous.
