One of the killers of the faith of Christian young people is that they do not see that their parents’ faith has joy in it. Your kids will most likely reject your religion if it is a joyless religion.

To be modest is to know how to be appropriately embarrassed, to be discreet, to be reserved, to see yourself as you really are, to be ashamed if your attitudes or dress were ever to cause dishonor to Christ.

One of the challenges of being part of a team of live-bloggers is figuring out how to avoid repetition. So I've decided to provide the "color commentary," as they say in journalism. For example, I'm here to report that when FamilyLife Today's Bob Lepine kicked off the conference with a word of welcome to the ladies, I couldn't help but notice his sartorial statement: a pink tie. Nice touch.
But I'll also tell you that if anyone was expecting a frilly, lacy, lightweight event, John Piper blew that idea out of the water in his opening message about true womanhood. This is going to be a meaty weekend, ladies! And I say, bring it on!

inevitably bring up the fact that they are so outnumbered. It's one of
the great mysteries of life that men are self-conscious when surrounded
by women. I, for one, never mind being the only woman in a roomful of
men.

The biblical model for learning the art of womanhood is this: those who have gone before gladly come alongside those who are following behind them. At almost any age, you are both older and younger than some of the women around you. So consider the women in your church body. If you are not currently investing in a woman who is younger in her faith, pray about who you should offer to disciple.

In other words, the key to overcoming fear is trust. It is not trust in a solution or a formula, but it is an abiding confidence in the character and faithfulness of God.

Rarely do we admit it, or are probably even aware of it, when we are attempting to play God or step into His position. But every time we choose to disobey Scripture, every time we take things into our own hands or decide to go our own way, we are dethroning God and stepping into that role ourselves.
