How, Why, and What's the Pay-off?

As we conclude our month of looking at point #5 of the True Woman Manifesto, some of you may be asking, “So, how do I 'embrace' my unique design and calling as a woman?” First of all, it helps to understand “why” I should do something that, at times, seems so foreign to my natural inclinations. So . . .

I find it helps me to think and process this dilemma logically:

• God has a great redemptive plan.
• I'm in it.
• He has a purpose for creating me as a woman.
• He has all knowledge.
• I don't.
• He's God.
• I'm not.

This isn't rocket science.

I “embrace” my design and calling by:

• Humbly acknowledging He knows best (Isaiah 55:8-9)
• Gratefully receiving His calling on my life (Ephesians 5:20-24)
• By faith placing my trust in His sovereign purposes for me as a woman (Titus 2:3-5)

How do I live it out?

• Evaluate my attitudes and actions as a woman through the grid of Scripture.

• When I recognize that I am exchanging or blurring my distinct feminine design, role, or calling–repent. Ask His forgiveness as well as anyone else's that has been affected by my sin.

• Put a plan in place to counteract the trigger points of rebellion (memorize Scripture, meet with an accountability partner, read books that address this issue, pull up this blog!).

• Completely rely on God's forgiveness and  grace to overcome sin the next time I'm tempted.

What's the pay-off?

• Joy comes from embracing God's design and living out His calling as a woman.

But more than that: God is greatly glorified!

What are some ways you are or will embrace and express your design and calling as a woman?

  1. I have started spending consistent time alone with God, separating myself from other voices and influences. This allows my mind and heart to be trained and comforted by God alone. I so need to hear His voice amid the "busyness" of life.

I will continue to do so because just in the two weeks that I have committed to doing this, I have seen such a difference in my spirit and my mind. I have a desire to have the approval of God in my life and whatever that entails. I am more willing to attempt more for God and even when hard things have arisen, I counsel my heart and say, "He is enough, Jodi" and then go to meet whatever challenge comes.

Being a Woman of God in this day is very difficult - especially the "meek and quiet spirit" part but I'm learning to lean on Jesus and believe that He will make me a woman after His heart and give me whatever I need to do His Will and hear His "Well Done", when all of this is over.

  2. Jodi,

Thanks for this awesome testimony of how God is working in your life. Hearing His, "Well done!" is one of my biggest motivators.

    Loved hearing from you,

  3. Live godly before my family, leave a godly legacy
Show them the Faith and confidence that I have to be unwavering ,uncompromising, steadfast, loyal and faithful to Gods Word. In order for me to be what God has called me to be I must submit to His Truth, and embrace it wholeheartedly.
Trust what God says at all times.
    Psalm 145:13
"The Lord is faithful to His promises and loving toward all he has made. (Thats me, Thats you)

Strengthen my faith being confindent (Gods promises are reliable) Hebrews 10:23 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for He who promised is Faithful.

Persevere-Hebrews 10:35,36 "Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward
"For you have need of endurance so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
Pray for conviction of my sin.
Repent when I get off track.
And praise God through difficult times.

  5. Good read Kimberly; Thank you!

As I spend time daily in The Word it helps me embrace my role as a woman.
I am going through the One Year Bible.
I mark the year on the day I do. And my pages are all marked up with circled words, lines attaching like thoughts/words & drawings & comments.

Nancy's teachings dovetail into mine since we both have the One Year Bible though I use the KJV.

    And just lately with all the turmoil in the world I was greatly comforted in my reading;
Psalm 91:4-6 "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence (swine flu)that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday..."
I am so grateful for God's timely Word. And ROH.

  6. As of late, the Lord has been teaching me to embrace my design as a woman in very practical ways; displayed in showing love to my husband. I make sure his shirts and pants are ironed for work; I cook him breakfast each morning before he goes to work; I am working on giving him more words of affirmation. These may seem like basic things in a marriage, but for many years I struggled to obey in showing love to my husband in these areas. These are seemingly "small" things that speak love to him and let him know he is my #1 priority after my relationship with Christ. Having and homeschooling six children has made this area of making my husband the priority he should be more of a challenge for me. But probably when you get right down to it, my selfish heart has been the real, root problem. I'm thankful for the Truth of the Scripture and for those who live it out and teach me what it means to live it out practically in my life. Thank you Kim!
Tambra, can't wait to hear that new song. I hope to make my way back there soon and worship with you all at DaySpring! Your comments on the blog are always a blessing to me too.

  7. Vivian,
So good to hear from you, you are such an inspiration to me, you are such a true woman of God. I cannot even imagine doing the things that you do your plate is so full, yet every time I see you, you have a joyful smile on your face.

Teaching six children at home is just a big "WOW" to me, It takes being committed, patient, mercyful, and faithful in your walk with God to be able to do what you do. And cooking breakfast for your family is awesome to me, I love that! Dr. Dobson spoke in one of his messages about spending time at the dinner table with your family and how important that it was and that 98% of families do not even sit together at dinner time. They either go do their own thing or eat in their bedrooms watching tv.

I have always had my family sit together at dinner time even before I heard what Dobson said. So what he said just broke my heart. We are losing the family in this country, other things are taking the place, of the love and quality time for our families. So I love that you have breakfast time
with your family. We eat a light breakfast, but we
always do the dinner time together.

And just a little "for your info" those things that you have been doing for your family, are not small.
That is what Jesus calls being a... in big words "SERVANT". Remember when Jesus washed the deciples feet. I do not consider anything Jesus did to be a small thing. You are definitely embracing and expressing your design and calling as a true woman. Hope to see you soon, hopefully at the womens bible study Saturday.
    Love ya, Tambra

  8. Dearest Sisters and dearest Kimberly,

I really enjoyed reading the comments above! Yes, let us be women who trust Him/hear His voice ... who are enabled through His Word... who are meek and quiet... who aspire to hear that "Well done" one day. May the Lord bless you, Kim, Jodi, Leslie N., Vivian and Tambra -- you are a blessing.

It is my heart's desire also to fulfil my role as a godly/true woman. I desire to be more organized so that my household (husband and children) will benefit. Vivian, the Lord used your post to encourage (convict) me to iron more! He used Nancy Leigh DeMoss (and guest) to get me motivated to make daily breakfasts for my husband, some time ago. Now He has been tugging on my heart about the ironing. Amen to what Tambra said, that these little areas of service are very important to the Lord.

We eat dinners together as a family too, and I'm sure it is a big part of why we are close to each other. It is a wonderful time for communication, as well as an opportunity for my husband to read the Bible to us. We all look forward to dinner time.

Praise the Lord, ladies -- may we all continue to pursue Him with our hearts and, by His grace, allow Him to make beautiful changes in our lives. I am thankful for you dear sisters who so shine in Christ.

    In His love,

  10. I love reading these posts. My children are grown and now we have grandchildren. The dinner time has been a battle for one of the young families, due to long hours for our son. But I have prayed and prayed, and the LORD answered by showing my daughter-in-love that her 'on the fly' approach to dinner time wasn't good. Now they have a routine of setting the table, having a pretty table including lighting candles and then they talk! Going around the table, ea person shares 'high points of the day and low points' Mommy and a 5yr old, a 3 yr old and a baby)! Even if daddy is gone, mommy does it. Our sons hears all the reports eagerly when he gets home and they are knitting together their family times. Answer to PRAYER!!! We shared it with them last night and it was so precious.
Not a small thing, a BIG thing. We're so grateful. Keep praying, Grammas!

Hey Girl! I love reading your post also. You have
such a joyful spirit I can really see it in your writting. You always give great encouraging words from the Lord to everyone.
I am excited to see that you also have dinner with your family, and bring the bible into it "Awesome" you just gave me a great idea maybe we will try that next dinner time.
I too could give a little more effort as far as the ironing goes. We are about to do a cd in July of
this year as long as the Lord allows. It will be all new music that the Lord has given me and our
worship leader (new original songs) and has allowed our worship team to put them together.
So as soon as we get it done I will be glad to put one in your hands to worship to. I will let you know
    and send you one.

  12. Thank you, Tambra! I will look forward to the CD (and will gladly pay for it). True worship is such a blessing. Praise the Lord for your gift. My husband sings and writes music for the Lord too ... and like you, he once performed in the world (before salvation). I am thankful you can both use your gifts now for God's glory and to edify the Body of Christ!
