Buckle your seat belt. We’re about to delve deeper into biblical womanhood. During the month of May, we’ll move on to the sixth commitment of the True Woman Manifesto, and seek to glorify God by cultivating such virtues as purity, modesty, submission, meekness, and love. Sound countercultural? That's because it is!
I’m excited because these very virtues are the ones that please God—the ones He finds beautiful, according to His Word. That’s enough to motivate me to tackle these all-too-often foreign virtues.
As we prepare blog posts for you, is there anything you’d like us to address along these lines? Which of these virtues are you most interested in learning about? Which virtue is hardest to find in your life?

As I have been spending time with the Lord, I've noticed in several of the scriptures that I've read that love seems to be the driving force behind all of the commands. I've been asking the Lord Jesus to fill up with His love so that I can, in turn, give it back to Him and to others.
I'm with Jessica (comment above)...what does it look like and how can I attain it?
I've thought about studying 1 Corinthians 13 in depth and "praying through" it. I've just had so many other things to pray about lately.
By the way, we have a missionary from Mexico coming to our church tonight. He's only been in the country for a week and with the "swine flu' scare, some have been sort of leary about his coming. Please pray for me that I would have wisdom and not fear. I'm in South Carolina and we've already seen some cases here.

Topic I would like to see addressed is "love". This is a struggle for me .. I don't think I fully understand what True love is. I find myself being manipulated by others and by my own preconceived expectations. I want to love others with the same love that Christ has for me and sometimes I just don't know how to practically apply that.

have a meek spirit. Where I get confused is if we are
bold for Christ, prayer warriors, and convicted, and yet
are meek...."as wise as a serpent but as harmless as a dove." The Lord just gave me the lyrics to, "we are weak
but he is strong, Yes, Jesus loves me."

I guess the virtue on your list that has most captured my heart recently is that of meekness. Moses was the meekest man on earth. Jesus said to come and learn of Him, for He is meek and lowly in heart; His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Mt. 11). I desire to be meek, yet strong (and not wimpy!) as we are commanded to be; of a meek and quiet spirit, yet a woman of strength as the Pr. 31 woman. It seems like a paradox, doesn't it? I've studied some, but would value your insights along these lines.
(Just as I wrote, some awesome thoughts came to my mind -- the law was given by Moses, grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (from John 1:17) -- and meekness was a key virtue in both their lives -- meekness must be very important in being able to be an able servant of the Lord, imparting His Truth to men!!)
In His love,

Paula is currently on a mission trip, so I'm helping out by responding some to comments on her post.
Thanks for all the great suggestions and questions. You've certainly fueled my desire to tackle some of these issues in our May posts! On Monday my post will tackle the question of "virtue" - what is it?
For those of you wanting some input on the topic of love, in case you haven't read it, you might want to check out Mary Kassian's excellent post on this:

Thanks for your response!

Sigh...
You know...in my honest of hearts, I wouldn't mind terribly if we could just bypass this month's topics, but I hope that through the fire of these lessons will emerge a heart that has had the impurities seared out. A painful process, yes, but necessary to reflect God's glory.

Perseverance and endurance are tough words, but we as women of God need them to get through tough times. When Jobs world collapsed around him, he kept on trusting God.
Those who have true faith and salvation will endure, no matter what assaults may come against them.
In reading Hebrews chapter 11 these believers never lost their faith, they endured to the end.
The greatest evidence of true faith, perseverance and endurance, is in the book of Revelation,
I have to say "WOW" to those tribulation saints.
Being a strong woman of God means having persevering faith that endures to the end. So many wemon just want to give up when things get to tough. But Gods Words says keep running the race
endure, persevere, press on to the goal set before you in other words never, ever give up. And I love those scriptures that back it up. Hebrews 12:1,2
and Phill 3:12-14
